About Yalova University

 

Founded in 2008, Yalova University, whose roots date back to fifteen years, is a young and fast growing university. Although it is a recently established university, thanks to its programs of study and accomplishments, Yalova University has already started to compete with other longer standing universities with its 14900 students (7056 associate, 6552 bachelor, 1104 master, 188 PhD) 491 academicians, and 317 administrative staff. Our university aims to have social and technical departments that produce pioneers and leaders in those fields, by providing knowledgeable academic and experienced administrative personnel and utilizing strong national and international relationships. Yalova University is working hard to become a “World University” and is growing fast with its Flexible Center-Mobile Target management model. At Yalova University, our primary concern is peace and happiness in both educational and professional life. Yalova University equips its students with the professional skills and knowledge necessary for a rapidly globalizing world. Thus, it aims to educate questioning, self-confident and patriotic individuals who are respectful of human rights and concerned with both national and international problems. In addition to the current campus in the city center, the construction of the main campus already has begun in our new and beautiful site surrounded by the natural beauties of Yalova.

Yalova, with its unique natural beauties and climate, is a peaceful city for its residents.

Yalova’s proximity to Bursa and Istanbul makes it easy for Yalova residents to benefit from the economical and cultural opportunities of the big cities. Freeway transportation to Bursa offers students convenient and easy transport and gives them plenty of time for studying and social activities.

It is easy to adapt to Yalova because it is a modern and socio-economically developed city. Yalova is  warm, safe, peaceful, and imbued with the hues of blue and green. There are various housing options reasonable prices for those who want to live in such a beautiful city.

The lively beach cafes in the summer and the shining cafes downtown in the winter are ideal places for students to spend their free time. Due to its prime geographic location, Yalova provides an abundance of activities. Whether it’s relaxing in the nearby town of Termal, hiking, horse-back riding and dining at the trout restaurant in Kurtköy, or enjoying the Tesvikiye Flatland with its sightseeing such as National Park and Su Dusen Waterfall, and picnic areas which are quite suitable for walking and mountain biking, one can always find ways to rejoice in the natural splendors of Yalova.

STUDENT LIFE & ACCOMODATION

 

The university owns two dormitories, one for female students, and one for male students. Besides, there have been many private dormitories where students stay with National or International students. Together with the Buddy Program, the Erasmus Office assists students in finding private accommodation (house-sharing).

 

INTERNATIONALIZATION

 

International activities are largely facilitated by the European and International Center: There are more than 60 Erasmus partners in Europe and several partnerships with universities in USA. Apart from Erasmus+, there have been 30 Bilateral Agreements with a variety of countries all over the world. Through both Erasmus+ and Bilateral Agreements, student and teaching staff exchange is provided each year. Furthermore, there are a number of institutionalized research centers such as Center of International Conflict Resolution, Science and Technology Research and Application Center, Woman and Family Studies Center.

 

THE FACULTY OF LAW

As the dynamic power of Yalova University, the Faculty of Law aims to bring up the young future academicians who are sensitive to environmental and social problems. Through academicians in the departments of Private and Public Law, talented students are being prepared for one of the most fundamental aspects of a state’s foundation and development.

Constitutional Law Department, Philosophy and Sociology of Law Department, Administrative Law Department, Penal and Penal Court Law Department, General Public Law Department, History of Law Department, International Law Department, and Financial Law Department are included under the Department of Public Law.

Civil Procedure Enforcement and Bankruptcy Law Department, Labour and Social Security Law Department, Commercial Law Department, and International Private Law Department are included under the Department of Private Law.

The benefit of Yalova University Faculty of Law is not limited to its regionally central location. It also provides its students with a law education at the level of a university in the European Union, in accordance with the international mission of our university.

Faculty of Economics and Administrative sciences that is the modern power of Yalova University raises graduates who can generate solutions considering the needs of our country and the world, who share the knowledge that they produce and contribute to the public welfare. Our faculty hosts the experts and the leadership of the new world which is shaped by the radical changes experienced in political, social, economic and cultural areas during the globalization period.

Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations

Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations has a mission of providing employment opportunities to its graduates in social relations and labor relations in public and private sector institutions.

Department of Economics

Our academic staff with Ph.D.’s from Turkey’s and US prestigious universities provide you a good education opportunity in their fields. While learning consumer behaviors, firm’s strategic decision making process, you will also analyze the various market structures through micro based courses. Inflation, unemployment, economic growth and monetary and fiscal policies will be given under the scope of Macroeconomics.

Department of Business Administration

Besides producing graduates who are sophisticated and competent on a global scale, the aim of our department is to be a local and also national knowledge distribution center for business knowledge.

Department of Social Work

0ur goal is to educate individuals who can understand society’s change and development on a global scale, who can understand as well as the troubles that many people experience, and who can try to find solutions. We will prepare individuals who have an especially good grasp of the socio-cultural structure of their community and its problems to address issues in the community by equipping them an understanding of social services methodology and practices.

Department of International Relations

The aim of our department is to help students gain the knowledge needed, and the ability to understand, analyze and explain current international issues academically. Our language of instruction is English at the bachelor degree level. Our students can also learn another foreign language such as Arabic, Russian or Spanish.

Department of International Trade and Finance

With its dynamic and innovative education programs, the primary goal of the department of International Trade and Finance is to produce entrepreneurs and executive candidates who can compete in national and international markets, who can take predictable risks, and make quick and correct decisions.

FACULTY OF ISLAMIC SCIENCES

Our faculty is an Islamic educational institution which is aware of its responsibilities, social accountability and cultural importance within a modern society. With our dynamic, proactive and fully qualified Turkish and Arabic educational staff, you will receive a quality education. Our aim is to change the understanding of religious issues based solely on interpretations and superficial inform past experiences and unqualified resources.

The Arabic language is at the core of our teaching, thus at our school, the language of instruction is Arabic. Our departments are;

Basic Islamic Sciences

The texts about Islamic belief, worship, law, morality principle sand cultural heritage of Islamic sciences are examined from an academic point of view. We try to generate solutions to the current religious problems with the help of modern knowledge and technology.

Philosophy and Religious Studies

We not only help our students to develop a rational and critical point of view as well as to analyze personal and social problems with scientific methods, but we also help them to Express themselves in the most effective way and enrich their intellectual world.

Islamic History and Art

Islam, from its birth to the present day, is considered within its historical process. This department deals with the subjects of academic researches such as art, literature, and music appreciation  and its products emerged in that process and institutional aspects of Islamic civilization.

FACULTY OF ART AND DESIGN

The Faculty of Art and Design at Yalova University was founded with the aim of contributing a large amount to art and design education in Turkey. It was also founded in order to educate artists and designers who use human-centered research, analysis and interpretation as a base; protect the environment; aim at being good and fair; take strength from their own society values; and are able to compete at both national and international levels.

Computer Engineering

Computer Engineering is a branch of engineering which focuses on the structure, design, development, and usage of computer systems.

Industrial Engineering

Industrial engineering is a branch of engineering that takes advantage of scientific methods to make every system use limited sources more productively and effectively. In light of these methods, industrial engineering analyses human, machine, material, knowledge, energy and designs systems and processes.

Energy Systems Engineering

Energy Systems Engineering is a department which trains students to be engineers who are able to use available resources efficiently, productively and cleanly, plan and manage all phases in energy production from resource to consumers, have full knowledge of sector legislation, conduct and develop studies on energy and energy related fields, internalize the education from different disciplines and have the ability to think critically.

Chemistry and Process Engineering

Chemistry and Process engineering is a department where chemistry with its general processes and engineering branches are examined together.

Among rapidly renewed industrial settlements in recent years, chemistry and process engineering has increased in importance and has become important necessity in local and foreign industries. Although this engineering service has been maintained not from its primary source, but from secondary sources like engineering branches of machine, chemistry and metallurgy until recently, today highly trained chemistry and process engineers, with their knowledge that can serve many branches of industry, will be employed rapidly.

Polymer Engineering

Polymer Engineering is a department which aims to train students to be competent in the design of polymeric material, production, manipulation, development, application, quality control and resolution of technical problems that may arise in all processes. The main goal of polymer engineering is to have graduates who will make major contributions to engineering world-wide.

The department of Polymer Engineering is the first and only public university department.

 

Transportation Engineering

Transportation Engineering is a branch of engineering which involves transportation of passengers and goods, safe design of mode of transports, project design of roads, highways, railways and intersections according to appropriate standards.

Yalova Vocational School has been continuing education as a high-level Vocational School and it has also passed the EU Grade Control Auditing. The fact that vacancies are filled according to the preferences of educational programs which are not included in other universities assures that our Vocational School’s importance regarding the preference-popularity. The technicians and members of professions that are disciplined, contributes to the need of members of this profession in the country.

The Centre anticipates helping the college students, lecturers and academicians to gain experience on the education, projects and research about women and family;  contributing to any study or research on women’s problems and family at local and national levels and giving any support relevantly.

YALOVA UNIVERSTIY SECIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY APPLICATION AND RESEARCH CENTRE (YUSTARC-YÜBİTAM)

YUSTARC aims at coordinating the works whose targets are gaining new information which will improve science and technology; producing new products and equipment with current information and creating and developing new systems, processes and services including software.

The future scientist will not only get the chance to see how science develops but also they will be able to conduct experiments with high-tech opportunity at the science and technology centre.

Within the body of YUSTARC, the mutual projects of university-business world will also be a focus as well as the basic studies of the faculties and institutes. 

 

YALOVA UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS CENTRE (YADİM)

YADİM, which aims to throw scientific and cultural bridges between Yalova and the world, is responsible for the coordination of starting and conducting projects on social, cultural, economic, scientific and technical issues and for creating a synergic relation between national – international institutions and Yalova University in this global integration era.

EURODESK is a European Network dedicated to providing information of Europe opportunities in educational and youth areas for young people and of young people's taking participation in European activities. Since 15 March 2015, YADİM has been in charge of servicing as Euro desk Contact Point so that both our students and the young in Yalova can get participate in many social and technical projects.
